Remote Job Interview Questions
Remote interviews test two things at once: can you do the job, and can you do it without someone watching over your shoulder? Prepare examples for both.
Questions you will almost certainly be asked
- How do you organise your day when nobody sets your hours?
- Tell us about a time you were blocked and nobody was online to help.
- How do you communicate progress in writing?
- What does your home setup look like, and how do you protect focus time?
Questions to ask them
- What time zones does the team span, and what overlap hours are expected?
- How are decisions documented — chat, docs, or meetings?
- What does the first 30 days look like for this role?
How to answer well
Use short, concrete stories: situation, what you did, what changed. Mention the tool you used, the time zone you worked in, and the outcome. Avoid saying you simply "work hard" — show a system.
